The Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police
is proud to present
STAFF SERGEANT JERRY NELSON
&
BRENDA FRANK
of the Regina Police Service
With the
EXCELLENCE IN POLICING SERVICES AWARD
Public Education
As a result of the Government of Canada’s announcement of the payment of 1.9 billion dollars to residential school survivors in 2005, the Cowessess urban office and the Cowessess Elders’ Committee approached the Regina Police Service to discuss the need for providing financial planning services to the Indian Residential School Survivors. The strategy focused on awareness, education, crime prevention and support.
The Regina Police Service representatives, Staff Sergeant Jerry Nelson and his assistant Brenda Frank through their dedication, passion, energy and leadership worked with the community, the stakeholders and the police community to prepare for and address the many concerns that were identified by the Cowessess Elders.
Staff Sergeant Nelson and Brenda Frank are to be recognized for their commitment to help protect the interests of the former students of Indian Residential Schools. The Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police would like to commend you by awarding you with the Public Education Award for 2007.
